Social Connections Theatre
A two-year cultural education project implemented in four Social Welfare Homes (nursing homes) in: Brańszczyk, Niegowa, Łagiewniki and Zborów.
Co-funded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund — a state special-purpose fund.
This project is a continuation and development of the Foundation’s previous work (“Home Theatre of Social Memory”) in the field of cultural initiatives where theatre is used as a tool for social action. Over the two-year period, the Foundation will deliver a series of professional theatre workshops in selected Social Welfare Homes, fostering residents’ creativity and sense of agency, and showcasing their artistic work.
Using theatre pedagogy methods, a four-person artistic team will engage participants in the creative process: creating autobiographical narratives, theatrical improvisations, movement-based work, and—most importantly— incorporating participants’ creations from various animation and activity sessions into the works being developed. In this way, their creative output will be strengthened and professionally shaped.
On this basis, short performances will be created—prepared and performed by the participants with the involvement of the artistic team—ensuring high artistic quality while preserving participants’ genuine creative agency. The project will culminate in an exchange of presentations between the Social Welfare Homes: a series of “barter” showcases, during which residents will present the results of their work to one another, creating a space for integration, inspiration, and cultural connection.
